Another Friday, another holiday cocktail.
This week, we’re doing it up classy – a la James Bond, but in the snow.
Is it wrong that I just had a mental image of Sean Connery (the best Bond…fight me) dressed in a well-tailored Santa suit, sipping one of these chocolate martinis?
Shaken, not stirred.
This page includes step by step instructions, as well as tips and notes. If you’d like to skip all that, feel free to scroll down to the full, printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Admittedly, I’m not really a fan of vodka.
I know what you’re gonna say.
It’s ubiquitous. It’s versatile. It works in just about any and all cocktails.
Personally, I think it mostly tastes like rubbing alcohol.
But in an ever-evolving world of non-traditional holiday recipes, it has its place in lovely dessert cocktails! If you like a good old fashioned espresso martini, you’ll love this Salted Caramel Chocolate Martini!
The variation in the world of martinis is crazy, but classic martinis are actually made with gin and vermouth.
Gin and chocolate aren’t exactly flavor friends, so adding vodka for that extra kick works here.
This chocolate martini makes for a fantastic dessert cocktail! It’s fairly sweet and pretty heavy, so drinking it with dinner might be too much.
After dinner or at a cocktail party, though – that’s where these tasty sips really shine.
Plus, oh my they’re so pretty!
PROTIP for the perfect caramel glass drizzle: Opt for some warmed dulce de leche instead of that ice cream caramel sauce. It’s thicker and won’t drip down the glass while you shake your cocktails.
How to make a salted caramel chocolate martini
Cocktails like this chocolate martini are super easy to throw together! You literally shake everything up in a cocktail shaker with some ice and strain it into your martini glass.
BOOM. Done.
I used Torani Salted Caramel Syrup (something I love in my morning coffee) to give my martinis that warm caramel flavor. There are many different kinds of alcohol and flavors that you can also mix with the required chocolate liqueur:
- Irish cream (I love to use a salted caramel flavored one for extra punch)
- Coffee liqueur
- Creme de cacao or creme de menthe
- Chocolate syrup
- Flavored vodkas (vanilla, caramel, chocolate…)
