It’s (finally) time for Fabulous Friday No. 7!!! And I’m off to Orlando to see Mickey for the first time since June! And to eat and drink and take pretty pictures for a super-awesome post I’m writing for a good friend.
Wow. It’s totally the middle of August, isn’t it?
Well, haven’t we had a busy year.
This is my first real Fabulous Friday since January, where there was all kinds of excitement about painting, frequent Disney trips, and our epic belated honeymoon that ended up being a one-city tour.
Hangin’ at the Queen’s House. No biggie. #crumbsofmylife #London #EuroTrip #CrumbyMoon #BuckinghamPalace #lovemylife A photo posted by Erica Acevedo (@crumbycupcake) on
Yep. Croissants in Paris and traipsing around Italy didn’t happen for us, all thanks to a bit of traveler ignorance, and an expensive airline mistake. Expensive for us, but much more expensive for them.
Thankfully, London (after 8 hours of ridiculous stress) was happy to let us stay for the duration of our trip there, and we were able to see almost everything we set out to, and ended up having an amazing time, even though we had to come home early. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and this is no exception.
There may well be a return visit next summer, to celebrate Gretchen’s 30th (she’s an incurable Anglophile,) and to see the Harry Potter West End play that’s being developed…time will tell.
After all that, in late February, I dragged Mr. Crumby, Lara, and a couple other friends with me to Disney so I could attend Food Blog Forum, and they could enjoy a weekend of instant fastpasses at the parks. It was a total win-win. Disney spoiled the crap out of us in every way, from putting us up in the Grand Floridian to the multiple-course lunch to the chance to network with some of the most successful food bloggers around.

Plus, I got to meet some of my previously internet-only blogging friends, which was sooooo awesome!
There’s nothing like being able to vent about a blogging issue, and have multiple people understand you.
And then, in July, I got to hit the Food & Wine Conference, which I raved about in waaaaaay too many words, and was once again spoiled, and blown away by how great the blogging community is.
Also in July, this little blog hit a nice milestone…

You may recall the crazy week of recipes I did for The Crumby Cupcake’s first birthday! I may have started doing it on a whim, but I really cannot express how much I love this blogging thing, and sharing my love of good food with the world. Sure, the perks are fun, but the thing that makes me happiest is when a reader lets me know they made one of my recipes, and it was loved!
All in all, I had a pretty damn good summer. In spite of the obnoxious heat and humidity that I should really be used to by now.
So, yes, it is indeed the middle of August, and as far as I’m concerned, summer is on it’s way out, and my favorite season is about the grace us with it’s presence – PUMPKIN SEASON!!
And fall. Yeah, love fall.
I have a few more summer recipe tricks up my sleeve, but be warned – this pumpkin season is gonna be intense!
One last thing….
I’ve joined the phone tech-savvy bloggers of the world –
The Crumby Cupcake now has an app!
If you have an iPhone, you can access the blog even easier than bringing up your favorites! And it’s so purty and nifty and slick and I just love it! YAY!
Alright, I know what you’re really here for…take a look at what’s good ’round the net today!
Gin & Tonic Cronuts. I’m sorry, but GTFO. GIMME.
While we’re talkin’ donuts…is it considered breakfast if I have a big bowl of this Coffee & Donut Ice Cream with Mocha Hot Fudge Swirl?
And more donuts…Baked Tres Leches Donut Holes??? STAAAAHHHHPPPP. I want like 50 of these right. now.
This Grilled Hawaiian Pizza is everything I love about life.
The look of this White Chocolate and Coconut Panna Cotta with Hibiscus Syrup Pearls is simple jaw-dropping! Too gorgeous!
These Boozy & Minty Poolside Milkshakes sound great – but those straws are darling!!!
Slow Cooker Italian Stuffed Peppers. JUST LOOK AT THEM. Literally drooling.
Ice Cream Brownie Mountain. I can’t even.
This Ultimate Cobb Salad is making me sooooo hungry!
As for incredible combos, this Salted Caramel, Grilled Peach & Pecan Pavlova is pretty much at the top of my list! YUM!
I insist that it’s never too early for Pumpkin…Nutella Cookie Bars.
Salted Caramel Peanut Butter Cup Drumsticks. WHAT. Why is this not available on the grocery store shelf, though?!
Oh, holy hell, Tiramisu Cheesecake! Good thing swimsuit season is almost over!
